Suzanne Preville

Suzanne Preville, the office manager of Mandak Veterinary Services, and Dr. Teddy’s “right hand,” has been with the business since 2009. When she started at Mandak she was a veterinary assistant, primarily assisting on farm calls when the practice still had a mobile portion. After the change in the business when the mobile part was closed, she took over the role of office manager in 2018.

Suzanne recalls that her first day on the job she passed out while holding puppies that were getting their dew claws removed. Dr. Teddy told her that if she could make it through surgery the following day, she could stay. It’s safe to say surgery went well and as they say, the rest is history.

Suzanne grew up in Clifton Park, NY, and riding horses was always her main passion, although she loved all animals. She attended SUNY Morrisville where she studied Equine Science. While in college she was on the English and Western Intercollegiate Riding Teams and showed draft horses.

After graduating she did a four-month internship in Texas at McQuay Stables where she worked in the breeding program. When she came home, she planned to teach lessons and buy and sell horses. However, she realized shortly after that a job with regular income sounded much more appealing.

All the pieces fell into place when she was helping her friend hold a difficult horse for the vet, and that vet happened to be Dr. Teddy. Impressed with her ability, Dr. Teddy offered her a job.

Suzanne’s favorite things to do are trail riding and camping with her horses, which she often does with the company of her mom, Patti. She also enjoys visiting her sister Rachel in Portland, Maine.

Suzanne’s animals include her pony, DD, who she has owned for over a decade, Tiger, a horse that she lease’s and uses to explore her passion for eventing and dressage, her three dogs, Jade, a pointer mix, and Forrest and Ruthie Jo, her two cavaliers, and three barn cats, Bart, Arnie and Squirrel.

The diverse day to day encounters is what she enjoys most about working in the veterinary field. It is always something different and she never knows what each day will bring.

Suzanne’s favorite part about working at Mandak is the down to earth family atmosphere, and that she gets to work with a great team every day when she goes to work
